Written by Craig A Oldham | May 18, 2021

Craig Oldham sits down with Josh Reverand, Director at Gap International, to discuss how building and measuring Affinity within your organization can give you an edge in executing your go-to-market strategy.

Learn how organizational Affinity can accelerate your growth

What are the critical organizational building blocks to helping put that circle together and meet their goals?

Mindset

It’s become a bit of a buzzword these days, and rightly so. And when we talk about mindset, we’re talking about whatever level of success a current company currently has, their current trajectory, their current formula for success and operating. Behind that formula for success is thinking, which drives what people take and what decisions they make. It is sometimes caused by assumptions about what we’ve tried in the past. What we haven’t tried in the past and what’s worked in the past, what hasn’t worked in the past.

Environment

How do you create an environment for that kind of strategic thinking? How do you create an environment where strategic thinking can be collaborative and additive. We all work together. People are the key, not as individuals but collectively. So whoever you’re hiring, whether tactical or strategic, how do you create the kind of environment where elements of leadership aren’t necessarily critical for the day-to-day running of a business.

Leadership

What does it take to be a breakthrough leader? It takes a different kind of commitment to commit to something you’ve never achieved before. But it does lead to a known trajectory and unknown space.

How do you measure and capture breakthrough mentality?

You need to understand your teams in five dimensions. Gap International has a performance diagnostic tool to understand and quantify these five essential elements to creating a championship team.

  • Affinity: Strength and quality of relationship

  • Ownership: The degree to which individuals hold themselves personally accountable for the performance of their leader, team, or organization

  • Interdependence: The willingness to seek and integrate diverse points of view

  • Purpose: The power of connection between an individual and the most significant expression of the organization’s reason for being

  • Risk: The freedom to challenge the status quo, communicate unorthodox ideas, and take bold actions

Mahdlo and our advisory team are partnering with Gap International to provide the Performance Diagnostic to our clients. We combine our programs around shifting the demand curve with Gaps Performance Diagnostic to give you the best opportunity to reach your goals.
